On Wednesday, following a House Veterans' Affairs Committee hearing on the fiscal year 2022 budget request, Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) released the following statement:

After reviewing President Biden's VA budget request, I have grave concerns about the sustainability of this kind of massive spending increase. Put simply, our focus should be streamlining healthcare access for veterans without growing the bloated VA bureaucracy. As the representative of over 60,000 veterans, I will always work to ensure veterans have the proper support and care when they hang up the uniform; however, this can be accomplished in a fiscally responsible manner that avoids wasteful spending and doesn't saddle future generations of veterans with massive debt.
